This is slightly off-topic, but I find it interesting and can probably work out a tenuous link to on-topic.

Cory Doctorow is a Canadian born author, blogger (at boingboing, which is in the major leagues of the blog world) and advocate.

I have been reading Cory’s work since I discovered his novel Eastern Standard Tribe a couple of years ago. I had given up on Science Fiction many years before, and it was a real pleasure to come across Cory’s work - near future/present day, plausible and well written.

Earlier this year I was pleased to meet Cory when he was on tour publicising his new book. He had just released his latest novel Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town . My impression of Cory was that he’s a decent guy who just ‘gets’ technology and culture in a very big way.

Cory’s latest project is a novel called Themepunks. The really cool thing is that you can read the first part of the novel (a stand alone novella) in free weekly installments as he writes it. Maybe it’s not a good idea to judge a book by its first few pages, but so far this looks very cool - it covers topics of business and new technology with an ethical slant.
