Well, an update to the above. ColbaNet must be Bell's Guinea pig for this service. 24meg for $30mo on a 1yr contract.

Bell has the infrastruture in place, just looks like they don't want to put their name on a full blown product in case it flops.

Interesting, I hadn't heard about Optimax. Worth considering, but $70-100 is a *lot* to shell out each month for a faster connection, especially considering the plans come with a bandwidth cap, albeit a generous one.

(I just saw this post.) Or you can just upgrade to Sympatico Optimax, if it's available in your part of Toronto. Either 10 Mb/s or 16 Mb/s depending on how much you're willing to pay ($70 or $100 a month, instead of $46.95 for what you have now).

Why did you have intrude on my fun with 'reality' Borris ;-)

The press relaease talked about 3 million housholds and businesses to be covered by the service I think. As long as my house is one of those 3 million getting 22Mbps ADSL then I'm happy.

I'm not too worried about the voip, I can always set that up myself. It's just that big fat pipe I'm looking forward to.

Except, of course, that it's Primus. Whose VoIP still has lots of issues. And in what areas? They still have to travel over the service provider copper loops, so the areas where they can roll this out will be quite small.

And...how many areas do you think you can get fiber to the home? Richmond Hill, downtown Vancouver, etc.
