Northern Voice, the Canadian blogging conference
It’s just what it says on the box, a blogging conference that takes place in Vancouver. The 2006 event has just been announced, with some luck I’ll be able to make it to this one.
I find the tone of the FAQ promising.
Who is it for?
Bloggers, people interested in becoming bloggers and those keen to learn more about personal publishing.
Is it for geeks?
No… much of the focus [is] on social and cultural aspects of blogging. Also, the attendance at most geek conferences is predominantly male. At last year’s Northern Voice over 40% of attendees were women and 20% were new to blogging.
The line up is still being worked on, but if last year’s speakers are anything to go by this should be one to watch. There were some big names from the blogging world there last time around, including Darren Barefoot, Todd Maffin and Roland Tanglao to mention a few who are regulars in my RSS reader.
Plus it only costs $50 to attend, not quite such a bargain once you figure in the cost of flying from Toronto, but a bargain nonetheless.
hi: well if your speaker submission gets accepted, then you won’t have to pay the $50
hope u can make it!
